WHEN IM A JOCKEY, ILL BE ALL GROWN UP (2004)

Dazzled as a child by the brilliant smile of a victorious jockey, Homeric has always been fascinated by horse riders. A one-time apprentice jockey who has since become a writer, Homeric is the voice of our film. He tells us about the training runs at Chantilly, thirty years after leaving them behind. He talks about his days at Frances most famous jockey training academy. Today, the academys students are still chasing the same dream. A nearly impossible dream, as only one out of 100 candidates will ever work as a professional jockey. We go behind the scenes at the training facilities, stables and dressing rooms to unravel the mystery of these little known athletes. We find out what drives them, and discover their secret passion. We film the daily lives of a handful of apprentice jockeys, including young women - a new thing that has emerged in recent years. Our film is a tribute to the worlds most wonderful job: the jockey.

"A moving portrait of jockey apprentices... In the beautiful and sensitive film directed by Jackie Bastide, whose camera is like a paintbrush, Homeric has gone to meet with those boys and girls." - LE NOUVEL OBSERVATEUR
