In Hamburg in December 1992, we followed Bob Wilsons final rehearsals for Alice, by Lewis Carroll, using music by Tom Waits. This chronicle of several days work, with different tones and atmospheres - serene or tense, light or gray, visual or musical is an attempt to reflect the charm specific to this new portrayal: its readability, its burlesque vein, its simple and direct relationship with the story of Alice in Wonderland. But this film, inspired by the universe it describes, also explores a labyrinth in which the silence of an enigma reigns supreme. That enigma is Bob Wilson.
