The streets of Jerusalem, the last Easter celebrations before the year 2000:
The Christian Church and its most faithful supporters display their passion; for almost 2000 years, Christ´s way of the cross has been followed by millions of pilgrims. Jerusalem, an excessive and magical place, often reveals itself to be the place where many can see their Christian ´folly´ become reality. Whether they think they are Elias, Jesus, or Mary Magdalene, Jerusalem is the place where the most intense ´Jesus madness´ is on show.
In this excessive atmosphere, we follow some of those giving free rein to their faith, or their folly; they walk the streets of Jerusalem as if ´enlightened´.
Thanks to non-stop telescoping between location, action and various churches, a constant state of movement is achieved, infusing the film with life from end to end. A rich soundtrack is carried along by chants, bells, cries, and tears, with the rhythm of the didgeridoo adding to this atmosphere of mystic folly.
